League Signup:

As of today the Vipers team is playing in the Arnold Athletic Association's Gold Division and the Hawks are playing in the South County CYC league.

Pre-Season Warm-up:

  1. Run in place, jumping jacks, windmill both arms, sit-ups, push ups.
  2. STRETCH: Fingers, arms, shoulders, quads, thighs and calfs.
  3. Jog about an 1/8 to a ¼ of a mile and do a couple of 50 yard sprints.
  4. Toss a football (football not to large or small, so boys can get a good grip), range approx. 30 feet, approx. 10 to 15 times, always trying to throw a spiral (football or baseball, rotation means velocity, tight spin).

Long toss:

  1. 50 feet apart (next year’s pitching distance for Affton) 30 throws
  2. 60 feet 5 throws
  3. 70 feet 5 throws
  4. 80 feet 5 throws
  5. 90 feet 5 throws
  6. 100 feet 5 throws
  7. 90 feet 5 throws
  8. 80 feet 5 throws
  9. 70 feet 5 throws
  10. 60 feet 5 throws
  11. 50 feet Air it out for 10 pitches
This drill should only take about 20 minutes and should be done about three times a week with a focus on increasing throwing strength and the proper throwing mechanics. Remember as the temperature gets colder the kids may need more time to warm-up.
